our first anniversary

gist number forty three

today i am grateful because it is my first anniversary with my love: jude, my car.

i've told y'all quite about the horrors i have faced with some of the cars i have had in the past. like curtis buddy love skylark, no named horror topaz and malyki onyx saber.

last year, after The Ex totalled malyki, i was forced to go out there and buy my very first car.

(well, in all actuality, i've bought all the cars i owned. my first two cars were given to me by both grandmothers. to make it official, i paid them one dollar each. that is all they would let me pay. my third car i did in fact buy for a lot more money, but i got an excellent price. my brother works in the auto body world, so he was able to get me a totalled car, fix it and then sell it to me. the reason i don't count this car in my above statement about buying a car, was because, all i told my bro was that i wanted a nissan. he picked it, etc. so i had no say in what i really got... but i lovvvveeeeddddd that car.)

anyway. searching for a car was tough. i was still a little shaken up from the accident, so i wasn't fond of the test drives. i was too nervous to really get a feel for the cars. i hated applying for a loan, since i wasn't paying for a car payment on my old car for a year or two. i hated creepy car salesmen. i hated the way i got treated at an auto dealership. like a 10 year old little girl. shoot, i probably knew more about cars then a quarter of the men i spoke to. i hated the dealership i actually bought my car from- after i committed to buying the car, they started treating my like a idiot. i didn't take their shit, so they took to calling me a "spitfire" which really meant "bitch" in their minds. but whatever. i wanted to be treated just like any other well paying customer, not like a child. so i advocated for myself. grrr. i don't like them!!!

anyway...point of the story: i've got my jude. my beautiful 2004 saturn vue. and even if we have had a few trials along the way, i think we'll be together for the long run. its going to be a wild ride, and i am buckled in ;)

A year and a half ago, I had an unfortunate incident and lost my dear Ruby, a red Toyota Solara. My parents and friends called her color "Speedng Ticket Red" because that's exactly what she got me...a lot. She's in a better place now and I got a brand new black Toyota Camry named Raven.

Congrats on your anniversary with Jude!
