bonjour haiti

grace in small things number eighty two
today i am most grateful for haiti.

haiti will always and forever officially be the first country i ever stepped foot in outside of the united states. this was my first site of this beautiful country.

this was moments after i took my first steps onto the first country i ever traveled to.

i really enjoyed being in haiti. i went to labadee which is royal caribbean's "private island" so it isn't like i was immersed in haitian culture, but it was still a great day. the water was so damn clear. i expected clear water but this was insane. it was so magical. i will be forever amazed by this. i think my favorite part of the day was the zip line. it was my first excursion of the cruise. we went flying down the world's longest zip line over land and water. BEST RIDE EVER! don't judge, lol. look closer. (p.s. this is me right before i jump)
(this isn't me going down, but this is right before i went down. how amazing and exhilarating is this?)

i have always wanted to fly. i'm talking ALWAYS. when i was was a kid my brothers and i would take the cushions off the couch- put them on the floor a ways off, and then JUMP from the couch onto the cushions. it was the closest i could get to flying. when i got a little older i used to climb my brothers stairs. they were the type with no slanted backing. just floating stairs. and then i would squeeze between them and throw myself into the air. i usually belly flopped onto the carpet. i'm surprised i never broke any ribs.

so the zipline in haiti was a major improvement.

i got a couple great haitian goods to bring back home; maybe i can take a picture and post it later.

goodbye haiti. thank you for letting me have a special moment in my life on your sand.

Please tell me that you took a lot of photos. I've never been to Haiti, but I'd love to live vicariously through you.
