not that i want to take any seriousness away from the swine flu, but when i read this at just for the halibut, it really just struck me.

y'all should really think about this.

"90 people get the swine flu and everybody wants to wear a mask. A million people have AIDS and no one wants to wear a condom."

    Thanks media, for not scaring the crap out of everyone about the AIDS pandemic. I know you've been busy with West Nile Virus, Small Pox scares, SARS, Avian Flu, Swine Flu, etc. but while there is treatment, there is still no cure for AIDS or Hepatitis, which at this point is almost worse than AIDS based on treatments available.
    Thanks schools for teaching abstinence is the only way to be safe. It may be true but is unrealistic. Children need to know the dangers of AIDS, Hep B, Hep C, and other incurable STDs out there.
    Instead we spend our time shutting schools down when kids still go out with friends and wind up at the mall - just another large social atmosphere waiting to spread the disease - a disease that is merely in the triple digits compared to the vast number of people with these other diseases.

    This saddens me. I should ask my friend over at the CDC what the current threat level of the swine flu really is.... (He's a virologist working on the cases)

    That is an amazing quote that really puts things into perspective.
