grace in small things 177th edition.
today has been quite a day so far, and if it were a normal day... i wouldn't even be out of work yet!
today i am grateful for...
1. driving all the way to virginia MYSELF!!!
truth be told, i can fall asleep anywhere. i LOVE road trips, and i tend to be the "go-to" for moments when we get lost or need to read the map or doing some mix-tape dj-ing. but besides those (awesome) road trip characteristics... the most major other one is that i can pass out in a car. this works to my advantage...but i guess it doesn't benefit others too much. but anyway, i am getting off the point. i usually only drive a few hours here and there... my best friend amy has done the entire trip on here own quite a few times while i slept (or cried... but thats a whole other story) in the passenger seat. BUT THIS TIME... I DROVE from MA to VA!!! major life accomplishment... at least for me.
2. Chik Fil A... need i say more?
we don't have Chik Fil A in RI or MA, so the only time i get to eat or drink all of its wonderfulness is when i am VA or GA. so this morning for breakfast i was able to eat my meal of choice and i enjoyed every last morsel.
3. that it only took us exactly 10 hours to get here.
we also didn't get stuck in traffic or caught up in construction... which is pretty impossible. i've never really had such an easy ride. (well, wait... except for that time i slept almost the entire way back home from VA while amy drove and sang whitney houston, ha) but yes... perfect driving.
4. that i handled our HORRIFIC hotel situation very well.
actually, amy handled it for the most part. but i was just glad i didn't get crazy angry/upset/anxious about it all. plus, we were able to find a more convenient, safe, clean and friendly hotel to stay at for pennies more a day. that was honestly the best thing that happened today. i am so grateful to be sitting in this clean room just relaxing right now.
5. i am going to be able to see some of my absolute closest friends
who i unfortunately only see 1-2 times per year now this whole weekend...in a city i am in love with...eating food that just makes me melt into a little happy, love puddle....and end the weekend making flowers for/being a guest at two of the most beautiful individuals wedding (who happen to be very important friends of mine.)
you think you can top that?

I would be proud of myself if I drove that far by myself too. I was proud of a six hour drive to Edmonton and that was on the Yellowhead with very light traffic.

Have a good time and a safe trip home.
