one plus one

grace number 27
today i am most grateful for my love of learning.
i was always the type of kid that enjoyed learning. don't get me wrong, sometimes i was sooo sick of school. especially toward the end of the year! i couldn't wait for summer to come! but toward the end of the summer i was kind of ready for school to start again (i am still analyzing whether i really wanted to go back to school, or if it was just my love of going out to buy school supplies which lead me to want the school year to start)
what i think was great was how involved i got in high school. maybe it was too involved, but it was good. i had a purpose. everything i did there lead me where i am now. and then in college, i got less involved, because i was a little burned out... but i still worked my ass off.
i worked an almost full time job all through college. i had a double major and a minor and i was in a few clubs. but what is so great about college is that you can choose classes (for the most part) based on what you were interesting. i took so many amazing classes: muslim studies, feminism through literature, persuasion, vernacular and its relation to language arts. whatever, maybe i am a "Geek", but i like to dive into classes and learn about things.
so going back to school and taking my first masters class was amazing this semester. i was petrified, but it all turned out so well. and i love my class.
i guess i am so grateful for it, because i know so many people who despise going to school. i definitely believe that school is not the path for everyone. i do not think everyone needs a "college education," but i am glad that i wanted one. school is definitely for me. maybe thats why i want to be a college professor. its kind of like being an everlasting student ;)
